Adriano Schiavo
Artist/Writer
New York based singer/songwriter Adriano Schiavo has been steadily building a following over the past several years.
Smooth vocals, coupled with strong melodies and straight forward rootsy acoustic rock have proved a recipe for success. Schiavo’s style has made him a logical choice for television, with songs being placed on TV shows such as Dawson’s Creek, Joan of Arcadia, Strong Medicine, and Passions.
In addition to being named VH1’s “Best Unsigned Artist”, Adriano currently participated in the New York Times Emerging Artist Series at Joe’s Pub, hosted by James Taylor. Additionally, he has shared the stage in the past with the likes of Jesse Harris (wrote Norah Jones’ “Don’t Know Why”), Duncan Sheik, Tina Dico (Zero 7), Brendan James and Jean Paul White.
At its heart, Schiavo’s soon-to-be released record is a collection of earnest love songs, produced by Curt Frasca, and backed by Schiavo’s very capable band, which also boasts pedigree that speaks for itself, with the members having logged stage time with the East Village Opera Company, Sophie B. Hawkins, Suzanne Vega, and Duncan Sheik.

So how does an artist take the tender and intimate moments that weave their way into relationships, and mold them into songs that are sensual and inviting, rather than straying into the land of cheesy, trite and “heard this all before?”
Well, melody, for one. The gift of melody is on Adriano Schiavo’s side. As is the gift of song. He’s got something to say, and says it in such a self-assured manner that the authenticity and sincerity of his songs never comes into question. He uses his words wisely throughout, as evidenced on “Come Back Home”, where sings, simply:
It’s these understated yet expressive lyrics, wrapped in plaintive melodies and delivered in what is sometimes a near whisper that lends an air of intimacy to the songs. Coupled with sparse, but always tasteful instrumentation and Frasca’s expert production, Adriano Schiavo is an artist on the cusp of breakthrough success.
